Lahore struggles with excessive pollution and is the second-worst city in the world.

Lahore was once again named the second most polluting city in the world on Sunday, highlighting the city of gardens’ ongoing battle with dangerous air quality.

The city’s average pollution level was 429, which puts it in the “hazardous” category, according to a global environmental monitoring website. Even more concerning values were reported by a number of localities: the area around FC College had an AQI of 706, Lower Mall had an AQI of 810, and Ravi Road had an AQI of 1198.

According to the research, Gujranwala is currently the most polluted city in Pakistan, with an AQI spike of 593, although Lahore is still among the worst-hit. The air quality in other large cities is likewise severe; Faisalabad’s AQI was 365, Multan’s was 299, and Peshawar’s was 172.

On the other side of the world, New Delhi, the capital of India, topped the list with an alarming AQI of 702, indicating a widespread regional air pollution catastrophe.

Health professionals have reissued their cautions, telling locals to wear masks, stay indoors more often, and refrain from needless outside activities. Health care providers warn that the air pollution is dangerous, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with heart or respiratory disorders.

According to environmental researchers, burning crop residue, emissions from heavy traffic, and industrial pollution are some of the causes of the declining air quality. They have stressed that delays could cause the area to enter a protracted public health emergency and asked authorities to act quickly and together to reduce pollution levels.
