Launch of the Secure Neighbourhood study to improve security in Islamabad: Chaudhry Talal

Following the recent explosion outside the district courts in Islamabad, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has announced the start of a new initiative called “Secure Neighbourhood” with the goal of enhancing the city’s security.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon and Talal Chaudhry told reporters that the “Secure Neighbourhood” survey will assist authorities in identifying people living in each locality of the federal capital. He claimed that because Islamabad hosts diplomats and regularly hosts international conferences, its government is more accountable than that of other cities.

The minister also mentioned that all cars and motorbikes must be electronically tagged as part of the new regulations, which would allow for real-time vehicle tracking to guarantee security.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon added that on November 17, the door-to-door survey will formally start. For this goal, two specialized mobile applications have been created that enable people to digitally register their home and personal information.

Information regarding domestic workers must also be provided by citizens, he stressed. To guarantee full survey coverage, teams will visit homes to get information from people who haven’t downloaded the app.
