Laws passed by “coercion” are unacceptable, according to Fazl.

According to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), the administration passed the 27th Constitutional Amendment without consulting the opposition.

Speaking to a crowd at a seminary here on Saturday, the JUI-F emir maintained that his party did not support such legislation and claimed that lawmakers were forced to vote in favour of the amendment.

He asked the instructors and students at Jamia Qasim-ul-Uloom in Multan, “How could the government obtain a two-thirds majority in just one year? The constitutional amendment was ratified by the parliament by the use of force.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman continued by stating that madrassas were fostering tolerance and harmony in society rather than radicalism.

Earlier, at a dinner hosted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser in Islamabad, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reaffirmed his demand for new elections.

The February 8 elections were rigged, according to Fazlur Rehman, who spoke at the event and said, “This is not a public mandate but a government imposed by the establishment.”

He also called for the immediate resignation of the incumbent administration and the calling of fresh elections. He criticised the Election Commission, pointing out that its term had already ended and that it had failed to conduct transparent polls.
