Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister, starts the Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, opened the Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026. 3,400 women athletes from all over the province took part.

The inaugural ceremony took place at Punjab Stadium in the Nishtar Park Sports Complex, where the chief minister was warmly welcomed. A lot of young girls, ministers, MPs, and senior players came to the colourful occasion.

Maryam Nawaz went to every pavilion in the stadium to personally cheer on the women athletes, which raised their spirits. Before lighting the Pink Games torch, athletes from each division carried it around the stadium. This was the formal start of the event.

Faiza Riaz, an Olympian, led the march past. The stadium was full of drumbeats and excited slogans. Teams from different divisions put on a traditional march past, which added to the festive mood.

Faisal Khokhar, the Minister of Sports, claimed that sports activities are being pushed to the tehsil level under the authority of the chief minister. He said that female athletes get monthly payments and praised Punjab’s great performance in national events, where they won 126 medals in the National Games and 173 medals in the Quaid-e-Azam Games.

He also said that 184 sports projects would be finished in a year, including building synthetic astro-turf hockey stadiums in every district to get more people interested in the sport at the grassroots level.

The Pink Games want to give women a fair chance and get them to walk into the spotlight. Officials claim that the program is a step in the right direction to give women more influence via sports and help new talent grow in Punjab.
