Muqam: Pakistan will keep defending the right to self-determination of Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD: SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, declared Tuesday that Pakistan will support the Kashmiri people until they fulfill their inalienable right to self-determination. He also pledged the nation’s continued moral, diplomatic, and political support for them at all levels.

The Pakistani government declared that it will raise the monthly subsistence grant for Jammu and Kashmir refugees (1989–1990) to Rs 5,000 per person in support of Kashmiris. The announcement was made by Amir Muqam on February 5, which is Kashmir Solidarity Day.

According to a statement he released, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s decision to raise the subsistence allowance is a manifestation of deep love, commitment, and unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people.”

Engineer Amir Muqam described the Jammu and Kashmir refugees as “very close to our hearts” and stated that the government’s main goals were their rehabilitation, reintegration, and dignified resettlement.

The minister stated that the Pakistani government was developing a pilot project to build 750 residential homes for the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir at a cost of Rs 3 billion.

He claimed that public land for the housing project had been supplied by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir administration. According to him, the land was being acquired through an award as part of the legal process because it was limited.

According to Muqam, “the Government of Pakistan considers the full rehabilitation and resettlement of the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir not only a social responsibility, but also a national duty.”
