Murad Saeed of the PTI resigns from the Senate, calling on colleagues to do the same.

Murad Saeed, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), resigned from his Senate seat, the party stated Saturday night.
Saeed called on all party officials and members to step down from their positions in the Senate, provincial assemblies, and other legislative bodies right now in a post on PTI’s official X account.
“Even after taking an oath on the constitution, its authority has been distorted,” Saeed wrote in the letter, which was also shared on the party’s X handle. “This parliament, founded on illegitimacy, has become complicit in every attempt to turn the gravest insult to the people’s mandate into the nation’s destiny.”
“I hereby resign as a protest,” Saeed said, adding that parliamentarians who were demanding basic rights for the “elected and real prime minister” were also being imprisoned for their protests.
In July 2025, he was elected senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but he was still in hiding and was unable to take the oath. Tensions in politics have increased since he resigned.
