Murder of Noor Mukadam case: Zahir Jaffer’s conviction appeal is scheduled for hearing

The hearing of Zahir Jaffer’s review appeal, which he filed after being found guilty in the Noor Mukadam murder case, has been set by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

On April 8, a three-person panel led by Justice Hashim Kakar will consider the review appeal against Zahir Jaffer’s sentence.

The panel hearing the review appeal in the murder case of Noor Mukadam will also include Justices Salahuddin and Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

It is important to note that in July 2021, Noor Mukadam, 27, was discovered slain at inmate Zahir’s home. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) affirmed the trial court’s death sentence and converted his jail sentence for rape accusations into a second death sentence.

Investigations showed that Noor was tortured before being beheaded, proving that her murder was cold-blooded.

Zahir Jaffer’s death sentence in the Noor Mukadam murder case was likewise upheld by the Supreme Court on May 20, 2025.

The brief ruling, which upheld Jaffer’s death sentence, was announced by Justice Hashim Kakar. According to him, the court changed the 25-year sentence to life in prison and upheld the trial court’s decision regarding the rape-related sections.

The ruling to compensate Noor Mukadam’s family was also affirmed by the court.

Given that Jan Mohammad and Iftikhar had completed enough time in prison, the court remitted the sentences of Jaffer’s gardener and watchman.
