Murtaza Wahab reviews search and rescue activities at Gul Plaza.

Following a significant incident at the commercial complex, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited the fire-affected Gul Plaza late at night to assess the ongoing search and rescue efforts and ordered authorities to expedite the search for missing persons.
Following the visit, Murtaza Wahab told the media that 70% of the building had been evacuated and that efforts were in progress to collect the rubble from the area of the plaza that had collapsed.
He further stated that engineers from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) have examined surrounding structures to verify the fire safety alarms. All departments are on high alert, he said, and rescue teams are still working.
According to the mayor, around 80 persons are still unaccounted for. He went on to say, “We will keep searching until we find everyone who is missing.”
He added that efforts have been made to stop similar tragedies from happening in the future.
