NA-171: With a lead of more than 50,000 votes, PPP wins the by-election.
According to the unofficial results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Hassan Mustafa finished second with 58,251 votes, behind PPP’s Makhdoom Tahir Rasheed-ud-din, who received 116,429 votes.
The seat became vacant following the passing of PTI MNA Mumtaz Mustafa, hence a by-election for NA-171 was conducted. As per the Supreme Court’s verdict in the reserved seats, he was among the 39 PTI Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) who received notification from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on July 26.
With 103,832 votes, Mumtaz Mustafa, an independent candidate supported by the PTI, won the seat in the general elections on February 8. With 56,028 votes, an independent candidate took second place, and Makhdoom Tahir Rasheed-ud-din of the PPP came in third with 49,018 votes.
Following a vote recount, PTI lost another seat it had won in the general elections on February 8 earlier on September 10.
Following a vote recount conducted by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Sarbuland Khan of the PTI lost to Asif Moosa of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-112.
Following an announcement from the ECP, Asif Moosa of the PPP was sworn in as a member of the Sindh Assembly. Asif Moosa of the PPP won the seat with 11,724 votes after the results were amended, followed by Sarbuland Khan of the PTI with 9,943 votes.
In the February 8 election, Sarbuland Khan, an independent supported by the PTI, was proclaimed the winner with 16,287 votes, while Asif Moosa of the PPP received 10,784 votes.
