NAB recovers Rs. 8,397 billion in 2.5 years, setting a new record.

Over the previous two and a half years, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered record amounts in corruption, fraud, and improper government land allocations, marking an unparalleled milestone, according to sources.

From March 2023 to October 2025, NAB recovered PKR 8,397 billion, the greatest recovery in the nation’s history, according to officials.

To put this into context, NAB only recovered PKR 883 billion during the 23 years between its founding in 1999 and February 2023. This indicates that recoveries have multiplied tenfold over the past two and a half years, indicating a time of unparalleled institutional success.

According to officials, the bureau expects to recover an additional 2,000 billion PKR by the end of this year, bringing the total recovery estimates even higher.

Retrieving large-scale government land allocations made possible by the Land Directorate was the most significant accomplishment; the total worth of reclaimed lands amounts to trillions of rupees, demonstrating the bureau’s resolute efforts to prevent theft and maintain responsibility.

According to NAB insiders, this record-breaking recovery period is a reflection of increased operational effectiveness and a dedication to ending corruption in both the public and commercial sectors.

It is generally considered a landmark accomplishment in Pakistan’s history of accountability, setting a high standard for upcoming anti-corruption initiatives and demonstrating the government’s dedication to maintaining financial transparency and safeguarding public assets.
