NADRA starts a new digital identification verification system all throughout Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new digital identity verification system named Nishan-e-Pakistan. Its goal is to make identification checks easier and safer.

With the new system, government agencies and private businesses who follow the rules will be able to check people’s identity documents on one website. This implies that organizations can now do everything in one place, which cuts down on paperwork and saves time.

NADRA added that the portal will let businesses use services like registration, managing subscriptions, and confirming their identities. It will also have advanced features like multi-biometric verification, fingerprint authentication, proof-of-life checks, and single sign-on (SSO) services.

Before, institutions that were onboarding typically had to deal with protracted paperwork processes and multiple approval stages. Officials argue that the new digital method will help speed up the process and make it easier to understand.

The platform will work with banks, microfinance institutions, non-banking financial organizations, telecom corporations, and other regulated businesses. The better verification framework is also likely to help digital financial services like EasyPaisa and JazzCash.

NADRA says that the system was made so that organizations can only verify identify and not retain individuals’ data on their own, which makes privacy protections stronger.

The Financial Action Task Force’s rules and Pakistan’s Digital Economy Enhancement Project are both being followed as part of the program. The goal is to make digital services more secure and open.
