NEPRA reduces the cost of electricity by Rs. 93 per unit.

Following the release of a notification that applies to all customers nationwide, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a reduction in power rates of 93 paisa per unit.
The email states that the reduction will be reflected in customers’ January electricity bills and was determined based on a November fuel cost adjustment.
It said that all consumer categories in the country, including those in Karachi, are eligible for the relief. Lifeline customers won’t profit from the cut, the government stated.
This cut was made one week after the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) asked NEPRA to reimburse customers for January bills at a rate of Rs0.72/unit, potentially providing them with relief of more than Rs5.6 billion.
NEPRA reviews fuel price modifications every month to account for shifts in global fuel prices and generation costs. The impact is then passed on to customers in later billing cycles.
