Newborn reportedly exchanged at a private hospital in Quetta

A family in Quetta has said that personnel at a private hospital exchanged their newborn son for a baby girl.

The family reported that four days prior, they admitted their newborn son to the nursery of a private hospital. The hospital records indicated that the infant was classified as male for five days; nevertheless, today they received a phone call informing them that their female baby had recovered.

They asserted that the hospital staff had swapped the newborns. The hospital’s nightly CCTV footage has reportedly disappeared.

The Balochistan Minister for Health has acknowledged the newborn exchange and has instructed the Healthcare Commission to do a comprehensive probe into the matter.
