In keeping with the global commitment to defending women’s rights and guaranteeing equal opportunities, this year’s Women’s Day theme is “Rights, Equality and Action: For All Women and Girls.”
President Asif Ali Zardari stated in his address that women have been essential to Pakistan’s growth and advancement. He noted that Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the country’s founder, had stressed the value of women’s equal involvement in national affairs.
The president also cited former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s leadership as a testament to Pakistani women’s tenacity and resilience. He claimed that women all throughout the nation are still motivated by the accomplishments and hardships of Nusrat Bhutto and Fatima Jinnah.
According to President Zardari, women are serving the country in every capacity, from parliamentary chambers to aeroplane cockpits, and their contributions are greatly appreciated. He emphasised the necessity of getting rid of legislation that discriminate against women and damaging social norms that impede their advancement.
He added that guaranteeing equal rights will contribute to bettering women’s access to protection, work, and education. The president also emphasised how crucial rural women are to the country’s economy and agriculture in particular.
He underlined that granting women equal access to finance, property, and work opportunities is crucial for sustainable growth and noted that Pakistan is dedicated to international agreements meant to end discrimination against women.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also honoured women in Pakistan and throughout the world who have persevered and dedicatedly contributed to society.
According to the prime minister, safeguarding women’s rights is essential to achieving long-term prosperity and national growth. He claimed that the country is proud of women’s diligence, tenacity, and important contributions in all spheres of life.
