Pakistan and Bangladesh re-establish direct flight connections after a break of 14 years.

– Air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been reinstated after a 14-year hiatus, with the inaugural flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines arriving in Karachi from Dhaka, carrying 150 passengers.

The aircraft arrived at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, where it received a traditional ceremonial reception on the runway.

A cake-cutting ceremony occurred at the airport, attended by the governor of Sindh.

The Sindh governor characterised the event as historic, noting Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements and expressing optimism for the continuation of this favourable trend.

He characterised Pakistan and Bangladesh as fraternal nations and asserted that India, specifically Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had endeavoured to employ divisive strategies, yet ultimately fell short.

A ceremony was conducted at Dhaka International Airport to officially inaugurate the flight’s departure.

Officials revealed plans to enhance flying frequency and decrease airfares in the future during the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Bashiruddin, Adviser for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Imran Haider, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, and senior officials from the Civil Aviation Authority and Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

High Commissioner Imran Haider stated that the reinstatement of direct flights embodies the mutual vision of Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He stated that the initiative would enhance youth, educational, business, and familial exchanges between the two nations.

Passengers aboard the flight applauded the move, characterising it as a significant milestone in enhancing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
