Pakistan defeated Nepal convincingly to achieve their inaugural triumph in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024.

Pakistan displayed a commanding performance, effortlessly reaching the target of 109 runs in just 11.5 overs while losing only one wicket.

Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali provided Pakistan with a formidable start, accumulating 52 runs within the initial six overs.

They persisted with their aggressive attack and before the midpoint, Pakistan had accumulated 92 runs, indicating an imminent one-sided triumph.

Feroze hit two additional boundaries in the following over, bringing her team even closer to the objective. Nevertheless, she was unable to complete the match as she was dismissed with just five runs remaining to secure victory. She achieved a score of 57 runs in 35 balls, with the assistance of ten boundaries.

Muneeba Ali concluded the match by hitting a boundary, resulting in a victory for her team and improving their net run-rate. This came after their loss against India in the initial match. She achieved a score of 46 runs from 34 deliveries, including eight shots that reached the boundary.

The Nepal bowlers had a subpar performance, allowing a boundary in each over. Kabita Joshi took the only wicket for their team.

Pakistan’s women’s captain, Nida Dar, elected to have Nepal bat first, and her bowlers subsequently validated the decision.

Fatima Sana eliminated Samjhana Khadka in the initial over, while Sadia Iqbal eliminated Kabita Kunwar and Indu Barma, resulting in Nepal’s score being reduced to 30-3 after five overs.

Sita Rana Magar and Sita Rana Magar struggled against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, managing to score only 10 runs in the following 4.2 overs before the latter was dismissed due to a run-out. Magar was dismissed due to a run-out in the 14th over, having scored a somewhat unsteady 26 runs off 30 balls.

Puja Mahato displayed a prudent innings, scoring 25 runs off 32 balls, while Kabita Joshi remained unbeaten with 31 runs off 23 balls, including four boundaries and one six, so contributing to the team’s final total of 108-6 in 20 overs.

Sadia Iqbal took two wickets for Pakistan, while Fatima Sana secured one.
