Pakistan honors the 1947 Kashmiri martyrs: PM

According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan honored the thousands of Kashmiri martyrs who gave their lives during their protracted fight for independence, particularly in November 1947.

India has engaged in unlawful usurpation and illegitimate possession of Kashmir, completely disregarding resolutions of the UN Security Council and breaking international law. In a statement regarding the Jammu Massacre of 1947, which is being commemorated on November 6, the prime minister stated, “Pakistan and all other proponents of fundamental human rights voice their censure in the strongest terms.”

He claimed that India has repeatedly violated international law, the right to self-determination, and fundamental human rights.

Even after many years, the darkest day in Jammu and Kashmir history, November 6, 1947, remains vivid in the memories of the Kashmiri people. As the “first massive genocide” of the Kashmiris by the violent Indian military forces, Kashmiris around the world commemorate it annually, he continued.

The prime minister claimed in November 1947 that in an attempt to alter the demographic and religious majority of the Kashmiri population, Indian forces and fanatics ruthlessly tortured and killed thousands of Kashmiris (237,000).

“Today, Indian soldiers are still making unlawful and unilateral attempts to reshape Kashmir’s predominantly Muslim population. According to a press statement from the PM Office Media Wing, the prime minister stated that the unlawful acts on August 5, 2019, are a continuation of the same pattern.

In addition to demonstrating that generations of Kashmiris bravely resisted Indian forces and never gave in to Indian atrocities and brutalities, the prime minister said that day embodied the extraordinary bravery and unwavering determination of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to secure their inalienable right to freedom.

According to him, Kashmiris have never shied away from making sacrifices for their rightful cause.

The Pakistani government and people honor the sacrifices made by their Kashmiri brothers and sisters with great affection today. The downtrodden people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity,” he continued.

The prime minister added that Pakistan reaffirmed its pledge on the international diplomatic scene to keep fervently bringing up the Kashmir problem and to continue providing the people of Kashmir with political, diplomatic, and spiritual support.

He emphasized that the international community should strongly express its concerns with India’s ongoing violations of international law and human rights in Indian unlawfully occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He claimed that Pakistan held the principled stance that the Kashmir problem should be settled in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the legitimate aspirations of Kashmiris at all international diplomatic forums.
