Pakistan’s identity is still shaped by Iqbal’s vision: President Zardari

On the 148th anniversary of his birth, President Asif Ali Zardari honored Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Thinker of Pakistan, calling him a visionary whose ideas still guide the country.
The President stated that Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East, will continue to inspire future generations with his intellectual legacy.
President Zardari said in his speech on Iqbal Day that Allama Iqbal inspired the Muslims of the subcontinent to embrace freedom and that his teachings continue to inspire and guide them to this day. He pointed out that the groundwork for Muslim self-determination in the area was established by Iqbal’s landmark Allahabad Address in 1930.
Iqbal underscored the importance of identity, spirituality, and independence for the Muslim Ummah, the President underlined. According to him, Pakistan’s national identity was greatly influenced by Iqbal’s philosophy, and the country needs to reassert its dedication to upholding his values.

“Iqbal’s influence extends far beyond his literary works that examine issues of identity, spirituality, and independence, such as Asrar-e-Khudi, Rumuz-e-Bekhudi, and Bang-e-Dara. “His insistence on Islamic values and political representation for Muslims has left a lasting imprint on Pakistan’s national identity,” the president was quoted as saying by the President Secretariat Press Wing in a press release.
President Zardari went on to say that for Pakistan to become affluent, peaceful, and united, everyone must work together. He emphasized that the course of the nation’s advancement and growth is still determined by Allama Iqbal’s vision.
PM PAYS IQBAL’S TRIBUTE
In accordance with Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s ideas, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stated that the Pakistani government was dedicated to giving the next generation an education that would enhance their intelligence and character in addition to providing a means of subsistence.
“Today, on the birth anniversary of the Poet of the East, thinker of Islam, and architect of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal, we pay tribute to his thoughts and insights and his extraordinary role for the Islamic nation and the Muslims of the subcontinent,” he wrote in a message on November 9, Iqbal Day.
“Allama Iqbal is the name of such a spiritual and intellectual force that gave a message of self-reliance to a nation that was in despair and lit a candle of light in the darkness of slavery,” he continued.
“Allama Iqbal taught us that faith, knowledge, and action are the pillars on which a living nation builds itself,” the prime minister stated. Iqbal’s ideas continue to offer direction in both domestic and international contexts today.
He said, “Iqbal’s youth is the falcon of the future and the architect of the nation.”
He stated, “We need our education to be ideologically formed in the light of Iqbal’s ideas because our bright and prosperous future depends on it.”
