PM seeks improved amenities at airports for travelers and passengers
At a review meeting on the continuing aviation sector reforms in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the necessary improvements to the facilities provided to travelers, passengers, and Pakistanis living abroad at airports throughout the nation.
In an effort to shorten passenger wait times during peak hours, the prime minister instructed the relevant authorities to make sure that more service counters are open during that time. Reiterating his administration’s commitment to upholding high standards of service and safety, he also emphasized the significance of finishing this year’s safety audit of the aviation industry as soon as possible.
As the cornerstone of the present aviation sector reforms, PM Shehbaz emphasized that the Aviation Act 2023, enacted during the previous government, is in place. For the sector to see the anticipated improvements, he directed that all policy initiatives and changes under the Act be completely implemented.
The growth of Skardu International Airport was a major topic of discussion, and the PM asked that travelers be given the best amenities.
The Aviation Act is actively being used to implement extensive reforms, according to officials briefing the meeting on the state of the aviation sector reforms. Additionally, there was a briefing on how all projects and efforts were being guaranteed to have third-party validation.
The development of a feasibility report for the enlargement of Skardu Airport was also disclosed to be imminent. In addition, it was reported to the meeting that there have been indications of interest about the installation of automated border control systems in airports, which is a measure intended to expedite and secure the processing of passengers.
