PM Shehbaz meets IMF chairman and Palestinian counterpart in Davos.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met separately with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday.

The conversations centered on economic reforms, global problems for rising countries, and Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.

During the meeting, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva recognized and praised Pakistan’s continued reform efforts. She emphasized the significance of maintaining the pace of changes to achieve long-term economic resilience and stability, highlighting the necessity for ongoing commitment while the global economic climate remains uncertain.

The discussion also included an exchange of perspectives on the global economic outlook and the issues that emerging economies face. Both sides emphasized the need of multilateral collaboration in maintaining economic stability, especially in the face of foreign shocks and changing financial conditions.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema. Muhammad Aurangzeb, the federal minister of finance and revenue, and Attaullah Tarar, the federal minister of information and broadcasting, were also in attendance.

During the event, Palestinian Premier Mohammad Mustafa held a separate meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Palestinian leader personally approached Pakistan’s prime minister to introduce himself, demonstrating the friendly character of the conversation.

PM Mohammad Mustafa extended deep appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz for Pakistan’s continuous, principled, and unwavering support for the Palestinian people. He thanked Pakistan for defending the Palestinian position in international forums and acknowledged Islamabad’s ongoing support for the Palestinian cause.
