PM Shehbaz praises Trump for regional peace and demands a stop to violations of the ceasefire in Gaza.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanded that ceasefire violations in Gaza end immediately, stating that complete observance of the truce is essential to maintaining regional peace.

The prime minister emphasized that all sides must adhere to the ceasefire in text and spirit in order to maintain long-term stability in Gaza during his remarks at a meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace on Thursday.

“Ceasefire violations must end if there is to be lasting peace in Gaza,” he stated.

Additionally, PM Sharif commended US President Donald Trump for playing what he called a positive role in dispute resolution.

He asserted that Trump’s actions prevented a full-scale conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and attributed the escalation between Pakistan and India to the US president’s prompt involvement.

The US leader successfully protected South Asia from widespread devastation, the premier said, adding that President Trump’s intervention halted the Pakistan-India war and saved thousands of valuable lives.

Sharif then addressed the Middle East, restating Pakistan’s longtime backing for the Palestinian cause.

He emphasized that the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state is necessary for long-term peace in the region and that the Palestinian people must be given their full and lawful rights to their homeland.

He urged the international community to follow pertinent UN Security Council resolutions, saying that “the establishment of a free and sovereign Palestinian state is indispensable for durable peace.”

The prime minister said that, if significant measures are made to guarantee justice and stability, the current period might be a “golden chapter” in the history of Middle Eastern peace initiatives.
