PM Shehbaz returns from a two-day visit to Turkmenistan

Following a two-day official visit to Turkmenistan, where he attended high-level international events and had numerous informal and bilateral meetings with regional leaders, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Lahore from Ashgabat on Friday.
Earlier, Mammetkhan Chakyev, the deputy chairman of the cabinet and head of the Transport and Communications Agency at the Cabinet Ministers of Turkmenistan, was at Ashgabat Airport to greet the prime minister and his entourage.
Prime Minister Shehbaz attended a significant forum in Ashgabat to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the International Day of Neutrality, and the International Year of Peace and Trust 2025 festivities.
In bilateral discussions with the presidents of Iran, Turkiye, and Turkmenistan on the fringes of the forum, PM Shehbaz discussed connectivity, regional cooperation, and common economic goals.
In keeping with Pakistan’s engagement with Central Asian nations and wider regional diplomacy, the prime minister also had casual conversations with a number of regional leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.
