The Lahore High Court has received a comprehensive report from Punjab Police detailing the enforcement measures implemented against kite flying during the last three years.
The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore delivered the report in a case that is presently being heard about the prohibition on Basant celebrations.
The police report states that between 2024 and 2026, 5,915 cases against kite flying were reported. 3,534 FIRs were filed in 2024, the most ever, and 1,918 complaints were filed in 2025. One citizen died as a result of occurrences involving kite flying in 2025.
According to the report, 5,270 people who were engaged in kite flying were taken into custody over the course of three years. There were two recorded injuries in 2025 compared to ten in 2024. As of now in 2026, there have been no documented fatalities or injuries.
During enforcement activities, police also retrieved almost 90,000 kites. Over 5,000 chemical and metallic kite strings were confiscated as part of an effort to combat hazardous chemicals.
In LHC, a petition contests the Kite Flying Act of 2025.
The current kite flying regulations will continue to be strictly enforced, authorities said, and any unlawful behavior would be dealt with swiftly and forcefully.
Notably, Advocate Azhar Siddique and other petitioners have petitioned the Lahore High Court to forbid any authorization for kite flying.
