Prime Minister Sharif has been instructed to implement measures to increase the production of wheat.
Today in Islamabad, he presided over a meeting on the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO). He instructed the federal government to develop an alternative strategy for purchasing wheat after consulting with provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and other relevant institutions.
The assembly endorsed the reorganization of the Wheat Board.
PM Shehbaz Sharif suggested that the wheat board should comprise of leaders from the farming community, as well as experts from the Land Information and Management System and SUPARCO.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated in the National Assembly on Wednesday that the administration has not made any decision regarding the export of wheat.
There has been no determination regarding the export of wheat. The speaker clarified to the National Assembly that there is no official decision on the export of wheat, as said in response to a point of order submitted by a parliamentarian.
Regarding the sugar and wheat frauds of the PTI government, it is worth noting that there is evidence indicating that wheat and sugar were initially exported and then imported. The whereabouts of the billions and trillions of rupees involved in these transactions are well-documented.
The prime minister also commended National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for demonstrating “generosity” by allowing the opposition leader to speak, a practice that was not observed during Asad Qaiser’s tenure as speaker.
