Prime Minister Shehbaz is set to inaugurate the health card initiative for Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan today.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will officially inaugurate the health card program today (Friday), providing complimentary healthcare services to the inhabitants of Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The new scheme will be accessible via a health card associated with citizens’ identity cards, facilitating access to medical treatment at public and private hospitals nationwide.
This project allows citizens to access complimentary medical treatments in more than 640 commercial and public hospitals around the nation, effective immediately. The program will continue to be effective until June 30, 2027.
The “health card” idea was discontinued two years ago, resulting in considerable difficulties for Islamabad inhabitants, particularly concerning treatments for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disorders, and accidents.
The new initiative will provide residents with complimentary treatment for certain ailments.
The Universal Health Coverage Program, valued at Rs41 billion, will enable each household to get medical treatment up to Rs1 million yearly.
