Purchasing petrol or diesel vehicles for official usage is prohibited in Punjab.

In an effort to encourage environmentally friendly transportation, the Punjab government has put a restriction on the acquisition of new gasoline and diesel vehicles for government departments.

Only electric or hybrid vehicles will be permitted to be purchased; vehicles utilized for field duties will not be subject to this new restriction.

Furthermore, a need for the approval of new gas stations has been established by the government. Only after installing electric vehicle charging equipment will new gas stations be granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
