Qureshi, the founder of PTI, was cleared in vandalism cases
Two charges challenging the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for vandalism committed during the Azadi March were heard by the Sessions Court.
In the course of the hearing, former minister Asad Umar, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan, Naeem Haider Panjotha, Sardar Masroof Advocate, and Amina Ali Advocate appeared before the court.
Subsequently, Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and other others were cleared by the court of vandalism charges.
Important to mention is that in 2022, two cases were filed at the Golra police station against Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood, and other politicians.
Imran Khan, the former prime minister, was already exonerated in two May 9 instances.
Violence on May 9th
Following former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9, 2023, violent conflicts broke out throughout Pakistan.
With Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad calling in the armed forces to maintain peace and order, the party workers, incensed over their chairman’s imprisonment, staged rallies in both big cities and remote areas.
PTI employees have attacked Army facilities during the rallies, including the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore.
The PTI founder is included as the primary culprit in all of the cases pertaining to the May 9 riots, which is important to note.
