Raoof Hasan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been unanimously chosen to serve as the PTI’s chief electoral commissioner.
During the PTI’s virtual general body meeting on Wednesday, this decision was made. The Central Secretariat was closed, thus the meeting was conducted by video connection.
PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Omar Ayub, and Raoof Hassan were present at the meeting, along with representatives and members from Quetta, Peshawar, and Islamabad.
It was also planned for a resolution about the intra-party elections to be submitted during the meeting. Additionally, a plan for holding intra-party elections in 15 days will be developed.
Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court rendered the verdict in the Toshakhana reference case earlier in the day, sentencing former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi to 14 years in jail apiece.
Additionally, the PTI founder was barred from holding any kind of public office for ten years. The pair was also fined Rs787 million apiece.
Bushra Bibi did not appear in court; Imran Khan was there. The PTI founder was called to appear before the court, which asked him to submit his statement in accordance with Section 342 of the CrPC.
