reduced solar panel scheme announced by Sindh government
Plans to introduce a new program in the next budget that will offer solar panels at steep discounts have been revealed by Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
The project intends to reduce energy poverty among Sindh’s impoverished and middle class while advancing solar energy.
The Sindh government, according to the provincial minister, will set aside Rs 5 billion in the upcoming budget for solar energy initiatives.
Aiming to cover 80% of the cost, the government will distribute 200,000 solar panels as part of this massive scheme; beneficiaries will be responsible for the remaining 20%. For individuals in need, this program aims to increase solar energy affordability and accessibility.
Noting that 500,000 households in Sindh do not currently have access to electricity, Shah emphasized the gravity of the situation. To address this problem, a dependable and sustainable energy source is being offered by the new solar program.
The government also intends to build mini-grid stations and solar parks around the province, including in Karachi, in addition to offering the cheap solar panels. For many residents, these initiatives should result in a major improvement in quality of life.
In addition, the province government plans to give out 100 free electricity units to the general public, which will lessen the financial strain on low-income households even more. This program complements other ones in other provinces, like Punjab, where free solar systems would be given to 50,000 households that use up to 100 units of electricity each.
