Roads in the upper regions are blocked by heavy snowfall, bringing life to a complete halt.

In Pakistan’s upper regions, severe snowfall and rain have severely disrupted daily life, blocking important roads and causing food and fuel shortages in a number of places.
Roads in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Astore district that were closed because of the intense snowfall have not yet been reopened. A sick man from a far-off village tragically passed away before he could be taken to a hospital, underscoring the difficulties locals face when there are ongoing road closures.
In the meantime, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Ziarat, and other upper and border regions of Balochistan have reached a standstill. Numerous villages, including Toba Achakzai and Toba Kakari, are now isolated due to the ongoing snowfall that has blocked land routes. As fuel and basic food supplies continue to run low, residents are still confined to their homes.
Officials in charge of the control room claim that helicopters are still the only way to provide relief to some remote locations.
Snowfall has ceased in Azad Kashmir’s Neelum Valley, but landslides and snow buildup have kept the main highway closed until Taobat. In 13 Nakyal villages, the power supply has also been cut off, making life even more difficult for the locals.
In upper Swat, where snow removal operations are presently underway, authorities say efforts are being made to reopen blocked roads.
As unfavorable weather conditions continue to present significant difficulties in mountainous areas, officials have advised locals to exercise caution.
