Russia says that the US should stop using “language of ultimatums” over Iran.

MOSCOW: The United States would help by “abandoning the language of ultimatums and returning the situation to a negotiating track,” according to Russia, which expressed optimism on Sunday that attempts to defuse the Iranian conflict would succeed.

Following a discussion between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry released the statement.

Both sides “called for efforts to avoid actions, including in the U.N. Security Council, that could undermine the remaining chances for advancing political and diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis,” according to the report.

Russia stated that it supported efforts to reduce tensions “in the interests of long-term and sustainable normalization of the Middle East situation, which would be facilitated by the United States abandoning the language of ultimatums and returning the situation to a negotiating track.”

US President Donald Trump stated earlier yesterday that Iran has 48 hours to comply with Washington’s demands in order to reach an agreement or reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

On his social media site Truth Social, Trump posted, “Recall when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT.”

“There are only 48 hours left before all Hell descends upon them,” he continued.

Trump announced on March 26 that he had extended Iran’s nuclear negotiating deadline to ten days in part because Tehran had sent him ten oil tankers flying the Pakistani flag as a show of goodwill.

Since the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran on February 28, killing over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the area has been on high alert. The

In retaliation, Tehran has launched missile and drone attacks against Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations that house US military installations. Additionally, Iran has imposed restrictions on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
