The 78th Liberation Day from Dogra Rule is observed in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Today, which is Saturday, is Gilgit Baltistan’s 78th Liberation Day. All districts, including Skardu and Gilgit, will have flag-raising ceremonies.
A ceremony honoring the martyrs and ghazis of Gilgit Baltistan’s liberation struggle will also be performed in addition to the main celebration, which will take place at Chinar Bagh Gilgit.
To commemorate the day, the government of Gilgit Baltistan declared today a public holiday.
The first time the Pakistani flag was raised was on November 1, 1947, when Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), under the leadership of the Gilgit Scouts, rose up against Dogra control and proclaimed itself an independent state. This incident put an end to Dogra rule over the area and played a significant role in the initial conflict in Kashmir, which led to Gilgit-Baltistan’s accession to Pakistan.
After a year of conflict, India’s rule over Baltistan ended in 1948.
With its stunning scenery and lively culture, Gilgit-Baltistan is the ideal destination for tourists and businesspeople.
