The air quality in Lahore has slightly improved following an extended period of smog.

The air quality in Lahore has somewhat improved as a result of recent actions taken by the Punjab government, but the threat of smog remains.

With an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 206, Lahore has risen to seventh position among the most polluted cities in the world, according to a global database that tracks air quality. However, there is still a lot of pollution in a few other Punjabi cities. An AQI of 349 was recorded in Faisalabad, 344 in Gujranwala, and 272 in Multan.

With its AQI skyrocketing to 407, New Delhi continues to be the most polluted city in the world, according to an air quality monitoring website.

Health professionals have advised people to use air purifiers at home more frequently, use protective masks, and restrict needless outdoor activities. They caution that long-term pollution exposure can cause major respiratory problems.

In the meantime, a new warning from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) warns that smog and cold temperatures might increase the risk of pneumonia and other respiratory illnesses. According to the institution, airborne pollutants can have a serious negative influence on people’s health, the economy, and general quality of life.

Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad have been designated as high-risk regions by authorities, who advise adults and children to rigorously adhere to preventive measures, particularly the usage of masks.
