The government chooses not to “abolish” the Ministry of Health
According to sources, the ministry will undergo a suitable resizing, and some of its divisions will be combined.
Sources claim that in order to improve healthcare services, the ministry would collaborate with international groups and the provinces. A further alternative being considered by the administration is the transfer of employees from integrated departments to separate departments.
Additional sources state that the National Emergency Health Services would merge with the National Health Institute and that the Punjabi government would receive control of the Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore.
Other sources claim that the administration is considering turning over management of the hospital that is now being constructed in Rawalpindi to the Punjab government. The future of the medical facilities in Islamabad is still up for debate.
Islamabad’s hospitals would contract out a portion of their services. Additional sources state that the Common Management Unit will incorporate the Malaria Directorate. The government’s right-sizing committee will examine five ministries, including the Ministry of National Health Services, though the report has not yet been finished.
Prime Minister Shehbaz had already ordered the relevant ministries to submit a proposal with the intention of eliminating five federal departments.
They added that the relevant ministries had started to gather recommendations for getting rid of the same on PM Shehbaz’s orders.
The sources went on to say that the decision to abolish the ministries was made in response to requests made by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who had been pressuring Pakistan to abolish particular federal ministries because he thought it was dumb.
