The KP government has approved the outer Ring Road plan to reduce traffic in South Peshawar.

The Outer Ring Road project for the southern portion of Peshawar was discussed at a meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

According to the Chief Minister, southern Peshawar will be covered by the 31-kilometer-long proposed second Ring Road.

The project intends to increase local business activity while easing transportation congestion.

Officials revealed at the briefing that the Outer Ring Road is anticipated to cost between 50 and 60 billion Pakistani Rupees.

For the sake of the general population, CM Sohail Afridi directed that the project include appropriate interchanges.

He stressed that future needs should be taken into account when planning, and he gave authorities instructions to work with the National Highway Authority (NHA) to set up an interchange at the Peshawar Bus Terminal so that buses could enter the city directly without creating traffic.

He added that the Ring Road’s potential for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) track will be examined.
