The minister announced a 600 MHz spectrum auction scheduled for next month to enhance internet bandwidth.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications On Saturday, Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that the government is implementing swift measures to advance the digital economy and foster investment in the technology industry.

She stated that next month, the 600 MHz spectrum will be auctioned, which would substantially enhance mobile internet capacity and furnish citizens with rapid, high-quality, and dependable internet access. She stated that this will mitigate connectivity problems for citizens and enhance digital services, e-commerce, e-governance, and other online amenities.

She was speaking at the Indus AI Week Conference held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

In conjunction with LCCI President Faheem-ur Rehman Saigol, she inaugurated the Lahore Chamber’s online membership page, stating that LCCI has become the first chamber in the nation to provide online services. She elucidated that using this platform, both new and established enterprises may effortlessly get membership, access information, and enhance business communication.

Shaza Fatima asserted that the utilization of technology would streamline business procedures, enhance transparency, and accelerate operations, thereby fortifying the national economy.

The Federal IT and Telecom Minister emphasized the “Smartphone for All” initiative, stating that the government is implementing measures to provide smartphone accessibility for all individuals, enabling widespread benefit from contemporary technology.

She stated that one million individuals will undergo reskilling and upskilling in artificial intelligence to enable youth, women, and professionals to fulfill the demands of the digital economy. She stated that transformative measures are being implemented in education to equip students and professionals with future-oriented capabilities.

She stated that the government desires the safe, transparent, and responsible utilization of digital platforms and artificial intelligence. Measures are being implemented for cybersecurity, data protection, and robust governance to ensure that organizations and users can rely on technology. She stated that internationally recognized laws and regulations are being implemented to attract investors and enhance investment in the IT and AI sectors in Pakistan.
