The OIC opposes Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.

The Israeli decision to recognize Somaliland has been rejected by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

In reaction to Israel’s recent declaration of Somaliland’s independence and the ensuing circumstances in Somalia, an emergency session of OIC foreign ministers has been called. Israel’s action has already been described by the OIC as a blatant breach of Somalia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha addressed the gathering, stating that the organization upholds Somalia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and that the Israeli action against Somaliland is against international law.

Waleed bin Abdulkarim Elkhereiji, the deputy foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, declared that any attempt to weaken Somalia’s sovereignty is condemned. He highlighted moving to the second phase of the truce in Gaza and said that the Somali administration can bring nations in the area together through diplomacy.

According to Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian, Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland is against international law, and they respect Somalia’s UN-recognized borders.

Abdisalam Abdi Ali, the foreign minister of Somalia, emphasized that any infringement on Somalia’s borders constitutes a breach of its sovereignty and declared that no nation would be permitted to utilize Somali territory. He went on to say that Israeli actions violate Somalia’s sovereignty and that so-called Somaliland is an essential element of federal Somalia.

Speaking during the meeting, the Turkish delegate reiterated their steadfast support for Somalia’s unity and sovereignty and said that Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland is unacceptable.

Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister, traveled to Saudi Arabia to attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit over the Somaliland conflict.
