The PM congratulates Tarique Rahman on becoming the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Tarique Rahman on his inauguration as the People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s prime minister.

“To further strengthen our bilateral cooperation across mutually beneficial areas and to deepen the historic ties between our two countries, I look forward to close and meaningful engagements with my brother,” the prime minister said on his X account.

The 60-year-old chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was sworn in as the nation’s next prime minister earlier in Dhaka. 209 of the 297 seats were won by his party in the 13th parliamentary elections.

Rahman and his new cabinet colleagues were sworn in at the Jatiya Sangsad’s South Plaza by Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin, according to media sources.
