The Prime Minister of Pakistan affirmed the nation’s commitment to collaborate closely with the European Union.

European Union Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis convened with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday, committing to augment collaboration between Pakistan and the European Union in all sectors.

The Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, as stated in a news release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Prime Minister received the newly appointed EU Ambassador to Pakistan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the EU in all areas of shared interest, particularly in trade, investment, development, security, migration, and climate change.

The Prime Minister emphasised the critical significance of the GSP Plus scheme in enhancing trade between Pakistan and the EU, asserting that the Government of Pakistan is committed to working closely with the EU on mutually beneficial trade enhancement initiatives, particularly through the GSP Plus.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the 7th session of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels in November of the prior year, with the Pakistani team led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The EU Ambassador expressed his gratitude and deep appreciation to the Prime Minister for the warm welcome he received upon his arrival in the country, assuring him of his dedication to relentlessly improve Pakistan-EU collaboration across all sectors.

He conveyed the EU leadership’s best wishes to the Prime Minister and affirmed the EU’s commitment to continued collaboration with Pakistan to enhance trade under GSP Plus, as well as through trade promotion initiatives, including the inaugural EU-Pakistan Business Forum set for April this year.
