The Punjab government will establish a new department to combat cybercrime.

The Punjab government has resolved to create a Cyber Crime Investigation Department to efficiently investigate and mitigate the rising incidence of cyber crimes in Punjab.
The Chief Minister of Punjab has sanctioned the action, as stated by officials. The objective of this newly formed department is to combat the rising incidence of crimes like online fraud, hacking, social media offenses, and digital extortion.
The announcement states that Fawaduddin Qureshi, Additional IG Logistics and Procurement Punjab, has been designated as the focal person for this project.
According to police sources, under the directives of Inspector General Punjab Abdul Karim, the DIG Headquarters Punjab has disseminated an official notification pertaining to this matter.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Department will get technical and investigative assistance from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, enhancing the efficacy of actions against cyber crimes in the province.
