The Punjab Wildlife Department initiates a whistleblower program to combat unlawful hunting.

The Punjab Wildlife has initiated its inaugural whistleblower program to combat unlawful hunting. Confirmed information resulting in action will be incentivized. The identity of the individual supplying information will remain confidential.

Individuals who report instances of unlawful hunting will be granted government incentives. Whistleblowers who furnish precise information will receive monetary rewards following a successful operation.

A reward of Rs 100,000 has been established for information regarding the Great Indian Bustard. Reporting the illegal hunting of urial or deer will yield a prize of Rs 50,000.

Information pertaining to the Houbara Bustard will yield a reward of Rs 25,000. Reporting net trapping or nocturnal hunting of partridges will yield Rs 10,000.

Reports of illegal hunting involving peacocks, quails, and waterfowl will be rewarded with Rs 10,000. Reporting illegal hunting of partridges and wild rabbits will yield a prize of Rs 5,000.

Officials have asserted that curbing illicit hunting is unattainable without public involvement. They have urged residents to actively participate in the campaign for animal conservation.
