The registration measure has been signed into law and published in the gazette. Fazl insists

The Ittehad-e-Tanazeem Madaris Diniya Supreme Council convened in Islamabad on Monday to deliberate on important matters pertaining to the registration legislation for madressas and its consequences for Pakistani seminaries.

A unanimous vote was passed by the council, which is made up of well-known religious leaders and intellectuals, calling for the modified Societies Registration Act to be immediately published in the gazette.

At a joint press conference following the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, and Mufti Taqi Usmani stressed the significance of finding a peaceful and constitutional solution to the issue.

Mufti Muneeb emphasized that on October 21, the amendment bill was approved by parliament and forwarded to the presidency for final approval. Despite the fact that the National Assembly speaker fixed a mistake in the measure after the president first pointed it out on October 28, the bill became law since the president did not object during the 10-day review period.

He insisted that once the review period ended, the president identified additional mistakes and that the bill was already law.

“Even though it became law, the absence of a gazette notification is still a big concern,” said Mufti Muneeb. It is imperative that this procedural delay be fixed right away to guarantee a seamless rollout. We insist that a legally required gazette notice be published. In the event that our demand is denied, we shall choose our next move.

Clarifying that their demand for the gazette notification was founded on legal and constitutional grounds, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that nobody would gain from making matters worse. “We are committed to resolving this issue peacefully through dialogue in a legal and constitutional way,” he said.

Broader issues, like the Madrassa Act and its effects on religious seminaries, were also discussed at the gathering. Speaking on the council’s behalf, Maulana Aslam Ghori stated that the government’s answer to their demands will determine what further steps are taken.

Maulana Hanif Jalandhari, Allama Sajid Mir, Maulana Hafiz Younus, and Senator Kamran Murtaza were among the prominent religious leaders who attended the gathering, along with other leaders from the Ittehad-e-Tanazeem Madaris Diniya.

The scholars warned that any further delay might have dire repercussions and reaffirmed their commitment to amicably settling disputes. They also encouraged the government to speed the notification procedure. We have communicated with the appropriate authorities. Mufti Taqi Usmani stated, “We are currently awaiting their response.”

In order to protect the rights of religious institutions and guarantee their appropriate incorporation into the national framework, the alliance of madrasa organizations reaffirmed their position.
