The Sindh government extends Section 144 throughout the province for an additional month.

According to a notification from the Sindh Home Department, the Sindh government extended the implementation of Section 144 throughout the province for an additional month on Friday.

According to the notification, the province’s prohibition on protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, rallies, and gatherings of more than five people has been extended for an additional month, starting on December 12.

A law known as Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code gives district administrations the authority to temporarily forbid gatherings of four or more individuals in one place.

In order to preserve law and order for the sake of “public and peace,” the Sindh government implemented Section 144 throughout the province on October 12 for a one-month term. On November 12, Section 144 was then extended for one month.
