Thick fog closes many motorway sections in Punjab

Dense fog once more enveloped extensive areas of Punjab during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, significantly impeding road traffic and necessitating the closure of many motorway segments due to exceedingly low visibility.

The dense fog has severely impacted vehicle traffic in multiple cities of Punjab. A Motorway official announced the closure of Motorway M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, Motorway M3 from Faizpur to Samundri, Motorway M4 from Shamkot to Abdul Hakim, and Motorway M11 from Lahore to Sialkot for all types of traffic.

Drivers are encountering challenges on primary roadways in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Phool Nagar, and Pattoki. Drivers are urged to utilize fog lights, decrease speed, and uphold a safe distance from preceding cars.

A representative for the Motorway Police stated that the closures were essential to safeguard lives and property due to perilous weather conditions.

Travelers are advised to favor afternoon excursions. The Motorway Police has established safe travel hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, when visibility is comparatively improved.

The Motorway Police recommended the public to refrain from non-essential travel and to contact the Motorway helpline 130 for guidance or assistance during fog-related interruptions.
