Three individuals, including two police officers, were killed in a shooting incident in Khyber.

The incident happened on the grounds of Landi Kotal, when unidentified attackers opened fire on police officers close to the Charwazgai post, according to information provided by the police spokeswoman.

Two officers, known as Alamzeb and Sher Alam, were killed in the firing, according to a police spokesperson. Two more people were injured, and one bystander also perished.

One police constable was injured and two police constables were martyred after a gunfight between the Railway Police and porters at the Mardan Railway Station earlier.

A number of porters were arrested and four others were hurt during the gunfight.

Police say there was a disagreement about the railway station’s lease, which led to the disturbance. There were conflicts between the two groups as a result of the railway officials’ closure of the mall yesterday.

In another instance, three officials—including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)—were injured in a shootout with terrorists in Mardan’s Zada Mata neighborhood, while Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was martyred, according to media reports.

Spc Ijaz Khan was martyred as a result of the incident, which broke out as terrorists and law enforcement agents engaged in a heavy firefight.

The courageous SP was shot and killed by the terrorists’ random gunfire, according to a spokesman for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), who confirmed the event.
