Three Pakistani detainees who were freed from India go back home

Following their safe return via the Wagah border, three Pakistani nationals who had been freed from Indian prisons were greeted with garlands.

Muhammad Idrees, Ramzan, and Asghar Ali have been freed. According to sources, gaining their release was made possible in large part by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Iqbal, whose real name is Muhammad Idrees, was arrested in 1995 on suspicion of cocaine smuggling and released from prison after serving 30 years.

Ramzan served 15 years in prison after being arrested in 2010 on similar accusations. Asghar Ali has also been released after being imprisoned for entering India illegally.

According to the Pakistan High Commission, it would keep working to ensure that all Pakistani inmates detained in Indian prisons are released and returned safely. Hundreds of Pakistanis are reportedly still detained in Indian jails; some have served their time but have not been freed.
