Trump announces the deployment of a hospital ship to Greenland.

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced his collaboration with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry to dispatch a hospital vessel to Greenland, a Danish territory that Trump has expressed interest in acquiring.

Trump disclosed the plan on social media just prior to holding a meal for Republican governors at the White House, where he conversed with Landry. In collaboration with the esteemed Governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, we will dispatch a state-of-the-art hospital vessel to Greenland to provide medical care for the numerous individuals in need of treatment. “It is en route!!!” Trump stated.

Neither the White House nor Landry’s office addressed inquiries over the post, including whether the ship had been solicited by Denmark or Greenland and whose individuals in need of assistance were affected. The Department of War did not provide an instant response.

Last week, Danish King Frederik made a second visit to Greenland within a year, aiming to exhibit solidarity with the country during Trump’s efforts to purchase the island.

Last month, Greenland, Denmark, and the United States engaged in discussions to address the situation after months of tensions within the NATO defense alliance.

Trump’s statement was issued shortly after Denmark’s Joint Arctic Command announced the evacuation of a crew member in need of immediate medical attention from a US submarine in the waters outside Greenland, seven nautical miles from Nuuk, the capital.

The relationship between Landry and the issue, as well as the post’s relevance to the evacuation, remained ambiguous.

The US Navy operates two hospital ships, the Mercy and the Comfort, neither of which is stationed in Louisiana.
