US-Iran discussions are stuck because of demands about the nuclear program: Report

People say that the US’s demand that Iran give up the right to any nuclear program, including for civilian and medicinal purposes, was a big reason why discussions broke down.
Al Jazeera says that Iran’s 10-point plan didn’t involve a full surrender of its nuclear objectives. On the other hand, US demands meant that Tehran had to stop all nuclear development, even for medical purposes.
Throughout the dispute, Iranian officials have always said that a religious order from the supreme commander forbids the country from making nuclear weapons.
Iranian officials said that earlier rounds of talks in Geneva and Oman had made progress and that both sides were closer to striking an agreement.
People argued that a deep lack of trust between the US and Iran was also a big problem for making progress. Recent events and the failure of discussions made it even harder to reach peace.
