Weather update: Is there a possibility of precipitation in Karachi today?
The Meteorological Office stated that there is a probability of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in certain areas of Karachi in the afternoon. Additionally, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in certain locations.
Anticipate the city to encounter sweltering and muggy weather conditions within the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature recorded was 30 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to be within the range of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that rain, accompanied by thundershowers, will bring an end to the current heatwave across the country. Furthermore, there is a high probability of heavy rainfall occurring in the northern and central regions of Pakistan between July 10 and July 15.
The PMD statement noted that monsoon currents are expected to enter the upper regions of the country from the Arabian Sea, commencing on July 10.
It is expected that the Kashmir region will see the longest period of monsoon rainfall. From July 10 to 16, intermittent rain accompanied by wind and thundershowers, including isolated heavy rains, are forecasted in various areas of Kashmir such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur.
Thundershowers accompanied by wind and isolated heavy falls are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, and Mianwali from the evening of July 10 until July 15 with intermittent breaks.
From July 12 to 14, there will be rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in many areas of Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan, and Layyah.
Urban flooding may occur in low-lying parts of northeastern Punjab. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that heavy rainfall may cause landslides, leading to traffic disruptions in susceptible mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In addition, intense rainfall, strong gusts of wind, and lightning can cause disruptions to daily activities, which may result in incidents such as the collapse of roofs or walls in impoverished regions and damage to vulnerable infrastructure like utility poles, advertising boards, automobiles, and solar panels.
Most districts of the province of Sindh should expect predominantly hot and highly humid weather. Today and tomorrow, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Dadu, Padidan, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Sajawal, Thatta, and Karachi can expect rain accompanied with wind and thunder, with intermittent breaks.
There is a high probability of rainfall occurring in Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad on July 12 and 13.
A recommendation is given to farmers to organize their activities in accordance with the weather forecast, while travelers and visitors are strongly encouraged to exercise prudence and adapt their plans based on weather conditions in order to prevent any unfavorable circumstances during the rainy period.
The Met Office has instructed all relevant agencies to maintain a state of alertness and implement the required actions to reduce hazards.
