14 runners from Pakistan compete in the 2026 Boston Marathon.

One of the most renowned and historic long-distance running events, the 130th Boston Marathon in Massachusetts, will see around a dozen racers from Pakistan and the world’s diaspora line up on Monday.

Amjad Ali, a Karachi police policeman, stood out among the 14 racers as a potent illustration of tenacity and grassroots success.

With a time of 2:40 at the Karachi Marathon, he guaranteed his spot in the event and set his sights on surpassing his personal best on one of the most prominent stages in the sport. He trained mostly on the streets of Karachi with the help of other runners and colleagues, and he was the fastest Pakistani at the 2024 Istanbul Marathon.

Dr. Jehanzeb Mughal, a maxillofacial surgeon from Karachi, also took part, finishing his Six Star trek through the World Marathon Majors. He overcame significant health obstacles, such as obesity and a knee problem, before completing all six major marathons in three years.

Beyond individual achievements, his work contributes to a greater good: the upkeep of a free oral cancer surgery unit at PEBS Hospital in Karachi, where since March 2023, over 450 procedures have been carried out without charge.

Four of the fourteen Pakistani competitors have achieved Six Star rank, and four more have done so in Boston. There were two female runners in the group as well as three Seven Star finishers.

In order to qualify for one of the most prestigious marathons in the world, runners had to pass qualifying times, charity events, and tour assignments.
